Question

Move/cut paste page without the ability of delete

asked on November 13, 2018

Hello all,

i just need a confirmation on something related to the security.

our goal was to move pages or cut paste the pages of a document without the ability to delete document pages.

so what i did was, disable the "Delete" feature right from the admin console, and left the "delete document pages" from the folder/document needed.

i think this is the correct behavior, but it took me a little bit to find the logic since i know that the delete feature is related to this subject since i am "deleting" pages from the document.

or i am the "delete" feature right, is only related to the "right click delete " action in the repository.

Thank you.

Maher.

Unless I'm mistaken, the delete right is not technically required to be able to move pages. The "delete" feature right encompasses all delete actions, folders, documents, pages, etc.

From what I understand, what you did should give users the ability to move pages without allowing them to delete anything completely; assuming they the other necessary permissions.

LF seems to be capable of recognizing the difference between "moving" and "deleting" so this can work.

This post might explain it a bit better.

Specifically, you can move pages out of documents, or documents out of folders, with the 'modify contents' Entry Access Right.
