Question

Maximum Repositories Allowed

asked on November 1, 2018 Show version history

We have Laserfiche Rio installed. In the Administration Console, when clicking on the Laserfiche server node, the properties on the right pane indicate "Maximum Repositories Allowed" is 1000

I heard that we can only have 15 repositories per Laserfiche server, so i'm confused. Does the above mean that the maximum is 1000 across all Laserfiche servers in the environment (or our license), or for that server?

With Laserfiche Rio you are allowed unlimited servers and repositories. There is a limit to 15 repositories per Laserfiche server. I believe because of the way the licenses work, Laserfiche had to put a number of available server activations and repositories and 1000 was probably a high enough number that no one would hit. I remember this coming up in a more recent conversation on Answers.

I'm with you, it certainly used to say 15 repositories allowed. But now it says 1000, this is a bit misleading and what Zaid is asking for clairifcation on I think.

I believe the specific repository limit per Lf Server instance has been removed for Laserfiche Rio installations (I don't remember the timeframe, and I'm not 100% certain), but either way we still strongly recommend keeping it to a smaller number as discussed in the thread Chris mentioned above. 1000 is basically short-hand for 'unlimited' - if you want to put 1001 repositories on your Laserfiche Server, you're on your own. wink

Hi Zaid,

It used to be 15, but I too noticed some time ago that this changed to 1000. This was also discussed here a while ago https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/86965/maximum-number-of-repositories-per-server

Curious to know the answer to this one also...

Thanks all for your answers. I gave it a go last week and was able to create a 16th repository without facing any issues. I will however try to respect the 15 repo count recommendation and migrate them soon to new servers.

However, right now my concern is: if i attempt to upgrade from 10.2 to a higher version, might i face any issue?
