OCR Issues with Snapshot

asked on October 18, 2018

I think I am missing something easy and silly. We are having issues with OCRing some things (I have attached a document I have been using to test) where if I import it by drag and drop, it OCR's perfectly fine. If I import the same document using Snapshot, it will not OCR. I have tested this in our clients environment (v9) where the issue originated as well as our environment that is running 10.3.

All of my settings are set to OCR upon import so I am not sure what is happening. If I snapshot a web page from the internet, the text OCR's perfectly fine. Same with an email I tested Snapshotting into the repo.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior with Snapshot and may be able to tell me what I am missing?

Thanks in advance!

By default, Snapshot does not OCR, however it will scrape text sent via the print job. So, if it is something from word or a PDF with selectable text, it will capture this. If it is raster image, it will not.

To configure this, go to the Text tab when printing in snapshot. For images you may have to change it to OCR

Ahh okay yeah, that setting worked for my image. I have my client set to automatically OCR documents that are imported into Laserfiche. Does that not include using Snapshot?

It does not, Snapshot is different.
