Question

Directory Server 10.3 requires Laserfiche Server 10.2.1 or higher. Repository users and licensing will still function, but Windows users and Laserfiche users may not function correctly. (157250)

Hi Laserfiche,

I just noticed this on the list of known issues for Update 2.

Is this an issue with Update 1 and is there a timeline for addressing this?

Also, how does the issue present itself?

If they are not able to upgrade to at least Laserfiche Server 10.1 Update 3, there was also a hotfix file released for Laserfiche Server 9.2.1: KB 1013893.

It's not using the complete patching UI, but the KB contains instructions. I believe they need to be on 9.2.1 service pack 2 to use the new file: https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1013737/list-of-changes-for-laserfiche-9-2-1-service-pack-2

Their other options are to wait to upgrade LFDS, or upgrade only to LFDS 10.1. If they want to use the LFDS features, I suggest they upgrade fully when possible instead of using older versions of LFDS.

Essentially, Windows Authentication will not work if you have a version of LFS prior to 10.1 update 3 but LFDS is 10.2 or later.

This is not a regression in 10.3 Update 1: it was first listed as a known issue in Directory Server 10.2 release notes. The issue is caused by a bug in LF Server clashing with an additional configuration required to support the larger feature set for Directory Server 10.2+.

Due to the high impact of the bug and the difficulty of accommodating it in LFDS, it was also backported to Laserfiche Server 10.1 Update 3, as noted in the previous question about this topic. I've requested an update to the Directory Server KBs to include LFS 10.1 Update 3 as the oldest compatible version.

Is this requirement is causing problems for a customer, or are you just asking to better understand the issue?

Hi Brianna,

This is for a customer. I'll send you more details in a private message but they are running a mix of LF 9 and 10 servers with License Manager 8.3.

Feel free to respond in public. After sending you the message, I realise there's nothing particularly compromising about the information.

Hi Brianna,

Just to confirm, with the hotfix for 9.2.1 SP2, says LFDS 10.2 can be used but I presume that includes 10.3.1, right?

That's correct: it's for LFDS 10.2+

Hi Brianna,

I just read the release notes for LFDS 10.4. It doesn't mention 9.2.1 SP2 +hotfix. Do you know if the two version are compatible?
