No option for LFDS Laserfiche User Accounts to change their own password in Web Access?

asked on September 17, 2018

Hi guys,

I'm obviously missing something here as the help files seem to indicate that LF User Accounts should be able to change their own password via a self-service approach, but they're only using Web Access and I can't find password change options anywhere.  Just to clarify, they are set up as "Laserfiche User" accounts in LFDS, and added to the repository as "Laserfiche Directory Accounts".

I found one option that said that Laserfiche Users can change their password via the Laserfiche Directory Server sign-in page, but they have no access to that.

What am I missing please?

Thanks,

Mike

Hey, Mike,

Unfortunately, a Laserfiche User cannot update their own password from within the web client. Similar to an AD or LDAP account, the password configuration is done elsewhere.

You could have an administrator initiate the password reset process inside of the LFDS web app. In the Password Tab of the user in question, there are several options for the user to change their password.

Out of curiosity, could you point us to the documentation in question? If it was misleading, we can update it appropriately. Thanks.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for that, I tested "user must change password" to see if it provided a self-service link

The first help reference I found searching in Answers, but it turned out to be a version 9 help page, and here's where I found the advice on the LFDS sign-in page password change.

Thanks,

Mike
