Question

Question

Web Link licensing

asked on August 13, 2018

We have a VMWare virtual server that is running our Laserfiche Server. I have executed the countcpu.exe and it states the following:

"This system is multi-core and SMT capable. Logical CPUs = 4 cores, physical packages = 2. The Laserfiche Server will consider this system to have 2 CPUs."

So for Web Link does that mean I need to get 2x single CPU licenses, multi-CPU license or will the "dual-CPU" license suffice? We have RIO master license.

Thanks

Hi Farid,

Laserfiche is no long selling/licensing public portal users by CPUs. They are sold either by the number of connections to the Laserfiche server, or the number of Laserfiche servers that allow unlimited public portal connections. If you  have bought public portal connections licensed by CPUs, you can request to convert to license by Laserfiche servers without extra software cost.

Please see https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1013862/upgrading-to-a-laserfiche-rio-multiprocessor-public-portal-license-from-a-single-processor-or-dual-processor-license for more information. Basically unlimited public portals are now stored per-server instance, not per-processor.

Thanks for that info! We have not purchased Web Link yet, only have a quote for the three options, namely single CPU, dual core CPU and multi-CPU .... I take it that if we are only want to have one LF server for public use then we need only purchase what used to be a called "single CPU multi-user" license? Or should we really ask for a re-quote from our VAR for these new license types?

Thanks

think they should be equivalent, but that's really a question for your VAR. I can't say for sure.
