Custom Tab show rules not working

asked on August 2, 2018

This has been happening for awhile and wonder if others have seen it as well.

Currently running WebAccess 10.3.1.51

We have custom tabs that seem to show in all folders even through the rule says to only show in a certain folder.

Yet when looking at a document not in that folder (Ready to Verify) the tab is showing.

It happens with other tabs as well.

Also, if I uncheck the box so as the tab does not display in the folder browser (since this tab only applies to documents) it disappears completely.

I have yet to get these tabs to function correctly with the show/hide options.  It seems that everything needs to be checked and even if only a certain folder is selected it appears anyway.

Are there settings I can clear or is this a bug?

Hi Chris,

I'm just experiencing the same issues as you having tackled my first proper look at deploying Custom Tabs.

By limiting to certain folders, or limiting to only shown in the document viewer, you would expect not to see the tab when navigating other folders or only when in the document viewer but this doesn't seem to be working correctly.

What actually seems to be happening is that the tab will ALWAYS be show regardless, but just that it won't attempt to load the URL in the tab unless the display rules are satisfied.

In other words - if you say 'only show in X folder' then you will still see the tab on every folder, but it will only attempt to display anything when you are in X folder.

That's how it seems to me to be working.

What would be great is that the tab didn't show at all unless you were in that folder, or a specific user etc.

This is an old post but is it possible to get confirmation from Laserfiche that this is how it works or is this a bug?  We just want to show a tab in a certain folder and it does not seem to function.

Hi Chris - since I didn't get a response when I added my comment to your thread, I created a new post here: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/149983/FEATURE-Web-Client--Custom-Tab-Behaviour

As you can see from the reply - it's 'normal' behaviour but hopefully they'll consider it as a feature request. Perhaps add your support so we can get some traction?

Cheers,

Duncan
