Question

disable forms user

asked on July 20, 2018 Show version history

In the administration guide for version 10

Configuring Laserfiche Forms > Configuring How Users Authenticate to Laserfiche Forms > Laserfiche Repository Users

It states "This account will be used by Forms the first time it logs in to the server. When Laserfiche Forms successfully connects to the Laserfiche Server, it will activate the special FormsUser$ account, which it will use when connecting to the Laserfiche Server in the future. Once this occurs, Forms will no longer use the account you specified to connect to the Laserfiche Server."

I'm trying to understand the configuration of the application that the VAR setup before I came on board.  The Forms user is set up as a "repository named user" which would force us to use a license for each repository that we configured for forms access.  After reading the above I ran an audit on logons and noticed that FORMSUSER$ is the only "forms" user that has regularly accessed Laserfiche.

Do I need this forms repository named user for anything other than configuring Forms access to the repository the first time?  Is there some "behind the curtain" service I need to consider?

Thanks,

Jim.

You need a repository named user for the initial connection between Forms and LFS. After the initial connection, Forms will switch over to using FORMSUSER$ and use that going forward. At that point, you can remove the license from that original repository named user. You can do this for each repository you need to connect to so Forms shouldn't lock up a license for each repository.

This is not working for our Forms installation. 10.3.1.553

When I remove the Named License from the initial arbitrary forms user all save to repository tasks begin suspending. When I reassign a named user license to that user and retry the tasks they work. So there must not be a "behind the scenes" FormsUser$ account involved yet. Why?

Support ticket has been submitted and the response was asking what the FORMSUSER$ accounts context and purpose is. Can someone please assist?

Elexis,

The FORMSUSER$ account isn't relevant for "save to repository" tasks.

For testing, create a new repository user and do not give it a named license. Just give it the necessary feature rights and entry access rights to perform the "save to repository" action.

Then create a new process in Forms and configure the "save to repository" step with a repository profile using this new user you created.

Now test the process and if it fails to save the form submission to the repository, check the event logs for more details.

This has been conveyed to you in the support case as well so it'd be best to continue troubleshooting there rather than in this thread.
