Question

Access Rights - Not Inherited

asked on June 4, 2018

I have some HR recruitment files in our folder tree that I want to restrict access to. Only those employees taking part in a recruitment should get access to that folder. Each recruitment folder will have different users that require access, while all other users will not. I want to disable "inherit rights from parent" and then add users to each separate folder as required. However, when I click to disable the inherit rights, the users lose access even though I've added them as trustees that should have access. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi Amanda,

If you are using version 10.3, the effective rights tab in the entry access rights dialog ('show security' in the web client) allows you to select a user and right and see why they do or do not have it. It will tell you where they are getting it allowed or denied from, taking into account entry inheritance and group membership, to help troubleshoot entry access right security scenarios.
