Question

Finding all shortcuts for a specific entry ID

asked on May 30, 2018

I am frustrated at not being able to find all shortcuts to a specific ID #.  I can find them if the names are all the same, but what if the document name is changed and no longer the same as the shortcuts, or vice versa?

I've tried the audit trail reporting to get a report but it's coming up blank, even though I know there are two shortcuts on the target document.  What might I be doing wrong?

You can find all shortcuts that lead to a document with a specific name. For example, if my document name is "test_image", then in advanced search syntax, I can find all shortcuts to that document using the following search string. It doesn't matter what names my shortcuts have.

{LF:ShortcutName="test_image"}

Thanks, Leif.  I use that option all the time.  I'm trying to find an option for finding them via the ID number, because the document name and the shortcut's names are not always exactly the same.

I guess I misunderstood. I assumed you know the document name, but it sounds like you only know the name of (one of) the shortcuts, and want to find the other shortcuts?

Holy, that works!!  At first I thought you were describing just the usual search for a document name asking for both documents and shortcuts, which I do all the time.

But, I copied your search syntax and created a dummy document and shortcut and it works!!  Thanks!

I have created a Saved Search for this so that I won't forget it!  Thanks again!

Hi Connie,

From WebClient use the next search: {LF:Shortcutid=ZZZZ} | {LF:ID = ZZZZ}, replace ZZZZ with ID of document.

Just adding to the string ... I see your original screenshot was in Audit Trail.  If you are looking to keep it in Audit Trail, you would just change your search to Destination ID instead of Entry ID.

Jennifer, I just tried this one out again today.  It works and I've now added it as a Saved Report on my Audit Trail Reporting page.

All three of these options work!  Needed them again today.

Thanks to:  Jennifer Ready, Leif Hancox-Li, and Marco Sanchez!
