Question

Saving a form to a network drive

asked on April 10, 2018

Hi there,

I would like to save a submitted form to a network drive.  Right now, as the form is submitted, I am emailing it to the form owners.

1) Has anyone saved a submitted form to a network drive?  If so, how do you use workflow to do this?
2) Is this a good idea?
3) Any things to lookout for?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Purvi,

You can save a form to a network drive / folder outside of Laserfiche but you will need to:

1. Save the file into Laserfiche first,

2. Create a SDK script within Workflow that is run once the file is saved in Laserfiche to push the file into a folder,

Hope this helps,

Ziad

Why do you need the form saved to a network drive?

Right now, when forms are submitted, they are being attached in an email and sent to the owning department.  The owning department downloads them and saves them to a network drive.

We are exploring saving to a network drive to eliminate the need to store these in email, and we are not saving to the repository because a lot of these forms are not "repository worthy".

Are those good reasons for why we want to save them on a network drive?  If not, please do provide any other suggestions smiley.
