Pretty obvious the use case. I'm surprised this at least wasn't a part of 10.3 update.

Feature Request: Add ability to launch MSG files in Outlook from the Web Client
Hi Robyn,
If you choose to open the electronic file, it will download and can be opened in outlook. Can you provide more information on what you are specifically looking for? Thanks!
Hi Justin, the details are described here:
https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/138496/User-Can-only-Check-Out-Documents#138536
From a user standpoint, having the check out the msg is confusing. It's not ideal to have to go "uncheckout documents" in the admin console when users aren't that familiar (myself included) with how to manage that. For other MS Office doc types, it's fairly straightforward.
Hey Pava-
6 years later, I have a use-case for you. I have a separate question about it and am not positive it's exactly related to this post, but you can see it (and in particular my reply) here:
Outlook message attachments in web viewer - Laserfiche Answers
This is one of the major pain points of the web client (and is usually what seals the deal for 99% of our customers using the windows client) is around how emails natively open in the web client, in that you have to download them first. This pushes to users towards using the windows client despite not having a document preview for MS office documents.
Having said that, this isn't a 'Laserfiche' issue, as the behaviour is exactly the same in SharePoint, so it's a Microsoft limitation that Laserfiche are stuck with.
Simply having the ability to preview MS office documents in the windows client would give everyone the best of all worlds, this has to be the number one requested feature we get from our customer base.
