Weblink Questions

asked on February 5, 2018 Show version history

I have some weblink questions --

1. I am using the url string https://weblinkserver/weblink/Browse.aspx?dbid=0&startid=1 to navigate my users to the correct folder -- When they navigate to this screen, I want the user to see thumbnails instead of the file and data about the file.  How can I do this?

2.  I would like to know how to determine what columns are displayed?  (If thumbnails are not shown)

3.  How to show more than 25 results on a page

4.  How to auto-sort the files that appear?

Hi Nate,

I believe most of the above requested can be done with the Laserfiche WebLink Designer? Do you have access to this?

Under the Search Results TAB, there are a few options you can do to alter your views:

With regards to Column Views, I believe from memory, there were a few files that required tweaking within WebLink. By opening the Page and logging in, inspect the page and see which file is being used and edit the lines required (not recommended if you have not done this before though as it can alter a lot)

Also, this may help, I did request this a while back too:

Thank you

Ziad,

Thanks for the reply.  Unfortunately, I am not looking for this to show in search results.  I just want the folder to show thumbnails when browsing to the folder via URL using the Browse.aspx (see below).  Similar to using the ctrl+alt+t to change the view in Web Access found HERE.  Surely if this is available in Web Access, it can be done in WebLink!  I'm hoping that it is just a change to the Browse.asp file or something simple!

Thanks,

Nate

Hello Nate,

WebLink currently is not able to do this. However, we added this to our feature backlog. Thank you for the update.

Andrew,

Thank you for the reply.  Unfortunately, I need to show thumbnails ASAP -- What can I do to get this custom developed and/or discuss this in more detail with a developer?  Who can initiate this process for me?

Side note -- Investigating this further, I see that there is a page being referenced 'ThumbnailImageData.aspx' but I cannot find this file anywhere in the Web Files.  I have a feeling this is the key to my castle, but need help finding this.  Please let me know asap.

Thanks,

Nate

The thumbnailsimagedata.aspx is part of the WebLinkControls.dll. Because it is so, there is no way to call it from an End User side.

Would you happen to be on WL10? If so, we implemented a thumbnail tab, in which it will show you all the thumbnails for each document when you select them.

Andrew,

I am on WL 10, but I do not need thumbnails of a specific image, I need them to show page 1 thumbnail for all pages in a specified folder (using browse.aspx).  Is it possible to setup a webinar with a developer to discuss this in more detail?

Thanks,

Nate

Hello Nate,

This would require significant development effort to implement this feature. Unfortunately it is not as simple as doing a few changes to the files. While we are aware of this request, we will look into implementing this feature. But we do not currently have a way to directly implement it.
