Question

Question

Web Access view icons or previews

asked on January 30, 2015

This may have been discussed previously, but don't see that there has been any updates.

Is there a way for web access to display document previews or icons vs. showing the "list view" ?

I have folders full of photos in Laserfiche that the customer would prefer to have the somewhat typical "preview" icons displayed in.

I think the answer is NO, but there is talk of this making it into a future release.  Is this still the case or do I now have a way to better display these items in Web Access ?

thanks in advance.

I would like to second this feature request. We think it is critical for users that view pictures for investigative reasons.

Yes, thumbnails are necessary for images. Can you implement this?

I second this. We need thumbnail preview modes to review multiple photos at once - one of our biggest user requests to date with our implementation.

Hello,

any update on this feature? It would be really convenient for photos.

Thanks

We do have a "thumbnail view" that allows you to view the first image page of a Laserfiche document or the icon for the electronic document type:

To access this view, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T. Use the same keyboard shortcut to switch back to list view.

Does this work in Web Access? When I tried this short cut, it gave the error the "purge" was not available.

The keyboard shortcuts are not necessarily the same between the prior version of Web Access and the current Web Client 10.x. You can view thumbnails in the preview pane by clicking the following button:

Hi Justin,

I mean a thumbnail pane of the various documents, not of the multiple pages of one document. In the hard client, there is this option:

Which is very useful when browsing photos

This is not available in the current version of the web client. I'll file a feature request for it and we can see if it is something we can implement.

Thanks Justin. This is a major feature, so I'm surprised it was available before and not now.

We are still waiting on it as a 'feature' request for the web client. Unfortunately in some cases, we've had to install the windows client ONLY because we had staff needing to see pictures in a much more convenient way... Any update would be appreciated.

Brianna:

Can I use this as a view in a Web Access URL that I use to access these files ?

view=thumbnail  at the end of the URL string ?   to point users to this view without their need to switch their view ?

It is not currently possible to link to the thumbnail view, as it is a user attribute rather than a view like the docviewer vs the folder browser. I have passed your request on to the WA team, but given how it is currently implemented, it may be difficult to add this functionality.

If you are interested in the user attribute, I believe it is called [Settings]FolderListStyle with a value of 4. Note that this may affect your Client view settings as well.
