Question

Why would a Hardware Fingerprint be blank?

asked on November 21, 2017

We have one of our Quick Fields workstations that seem to have lost its Hardware Fingerprint. After running Windows Updates on the PC yesterday, Quick fields stopped working as it says the License file is invalid and that Quick Fields needs to be Activated.

I then thought of confirming the Hardware Fingerprint and just regenerate the License file on LFDS. However when I use the showhfp.exe on the PC in question, it shows the HostID but the Hardware Fingerprint is blank. even the field for Legacy fingerprint is empty.

Any idea why this could be and how we can solve this?

Is the Fingerprint generated by the OS?

The HWFP is generated by our own algorithm. Since you've already checked that the Show HWFP utility is also unable to retrieve the fingerprint, I recommend that you contact your reseller to open a support case.
