Question

AS400 snapshot setup

asked on October 20, 2017

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone recently had success setting up snapshot with AS400? Currently the print driver shows up but when we sent the job to it, it shows in the print job box for a half second and disappears. AS400 ask for a type of printer which we think could be the issue. Any help would be great. Thanks.

The only difference I see in your setup is that I have HPT set to FALSE.

Does the job fail before or after the Snapshot dialog box appears? If it fails before, check the AS400 print job and see if there is a message that needs to be answered. Also, I have found that it is best to set the print job to Hold and Save, this is a setting either in the individual print job or on the mainframe screen before you generate the job - that way the job will not disappear if there is an issue.

We are able to print from an AS400 successfully using Snapshot. Can you share information on how you have the print session configured?

Thank you Amy,

As soon as my contact changed the HPT setting to false, it worked. This is great because I had them do a support ticket with IBM and IBM responded with a "no, snapshot is a windows only driver" Thanks again.

Glad I could help! Snapshot has been a lifesaver for us. We use it all the time to get print jobs from the AS400 to Laserfiche.

Question for you, do you have issue with character being printed on top of each other? the first test we did cut off some of the document, so we changed the margin setting and got that fixed, but the some letters are being smashed together which makes OCR not read properly. Thanks again for your time.

Yes, we do have the issue. Luckily, we only need to OCR part of the document and it is still able to read the text and create the token using pattern matching. I have researched to try to find a resolution to the issue with our software and also with IBM but I have not had any luck with it.
