Generate Pages dropping information

asked on September 13, 2017

Has anyone seen the auto generate pages from PDF's in the client dropping information before?  Have a semi serious issue where imported PDFs in a repository are converting to tiff and missing information.  The setting in the client is to convert the PDF but not keep the original PDF.  They are on client 10.1.0.151.  When importing a PDF into their system the result tiff (part of the page) shows this:

Yet when I import it into our 10.2 system:

The PDF certainly has a part D.  Also I know the picture is cuttoff but the part D text is not below on the next page or anything.  Any ideas as to how this would happen?  They may need to find and re-do quite a bit of importing and converting since they are not sure which ones are hit (this is not the only example there were others that behaved the same way).

Thanks,

Chris

There was a bug in our 3rd party pdf rendering component, have the customer update their windows client to 10.1 update 1.

We saw something close to this when we upgraded from 9.1 to 10.1.  Certain PDF files (but staying as PDFs) were having selected text "removed" from the page.  During some testing, we noticed that it was text formatted a certain way that was being removed.  Such as if it was originally a word doc with a numbered list, the formatting of the numbers was removed.

For us, it turned out to be an issue with our GlobalScan software on our MFDs.  Once we upgraded that software, it worked fine for us.

That's interesting, because they were originally word docs.  Not sure why, but the user was opening each word doc, saving it as a PDF, then generating the pages of that PDF by dragging it into Laserfiche (rather than just imported the Word doc and then converting it).  Neither way is wrong but the first way certainly seems like more steps and is resulting in missing data.

For us it was a matter of word docs were printed, signed, then scanned back in as PDFs.  We started to find the root cause by trying to scan with a local scanner instead of the MFD.  The local scanner saving as a PDF to our desk top could be dragged into LF without losing anything.  Do they still have the word docs?  Would it be worth printing and rescanning one to try to eliminate the PDF software on the computer?
