Question

QF Rotate is not rotating the pages of the documents in order to read a barcode

asked on August 25, 2017

We are receiving a bunch of documents, and inside each documents can be found various documents, we want to separate each document by reading the barcode, the situation is that inside each document we can find some documents in a wrong direction and we want those documents to rotate first and then read the barcode and separate.

for some reason the document is no moving, so the first page recognition is the barcode, we are rotating first but its not working.

Any Thoughts?

Is there a high chance that there are multiple barcodes on one page or could you get away with reading the entire page instead of a small zone?

I also see that you only have one type of barcode checked.  Do you know for sure all the barcodes are Code 39?

Can you send a shot of how your have your rotate set up to see if the issue lies there?

Does is work if you just set up the barcode activity to read barcode both Horizontal and Vertical to avoid the rotation?

Have you had quick fields open and watched documents go through?  Is it possible that it is reading the barcode it just is not ready the expected value?

The situation is when the page is I'm using a zone to identify the barcode, but if the page is flipped its impossible to detect if the barcode is horizontal or vertical. I need the page to be rotated first to find the correct barcode.

What you think?

Thks Jennifer, I did that, read the entire page, now I have the documents separated, the problem now is I need the documents to be stored as PDF and for some reason the documents when I merge them are stored as TIFF, inside laserfiche. even when  I marked the to be stored as PDF.

Please install the QF 10.1 hotfix (KB 1013873) mentioned in this earlier post. After installing the hotfix, follow the screenshots to add a Rotate process to your QF session. Verify that auto-rotation works correctly.

https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/118467/QF-101-Quirky-behavior-with-Auto-Rotate

If you are performing any zone processes (such as Zone OCR, Zone barcode, etc), auto-rotate should be performed ahead of time, before any of these zone processes.

The Barcode process, on its own, is not designed for the functionality of auto-rotating the page, even though it is capable of recognizing barcodes in either orientation.
