Question

LFDS update site license

asked on July 14, 2017

I have a site running LFDS 9.2.1.208 on a Windows 2008 Server.  They want to update the master license so that they can upgrade their test environment to LF 10.x.  We first tried to renew the license by allowing the LFDS to access the internet and directly request it from Laserfiche.  When we click the button to start the update, we get a spinning wheel that never stops.

They are running a Barracuda web filter, so I thought that that might be causing a problem.  So we got the LFDS machine Host ID and fingerprint and then generated a license through the activation tool from another PC and copied the license file over to the LFDS server.  We then tried to update the license by providing the license file instead of direct activation.  After selecting the license file and ckicking OK, again we get a spinning wheel that will not go away.

Any ideas on what causes this and how to fix it?

There were a few issues with renewal in 9.2.1 that have been subsequently fixed.

The most common issue is resolved by the following steps:

  • View the Edit page for an LFS (Laserfiche Server) instance
  • Click save (it is not necessary to make any changes)
  • Repeat for all registered LFS instances

If that does not work, it could be that something in use was removed/changed on the master license. At that point, your best options are (1) upgrade, since all known issues with this are resolved in later versions or (2) open a support case (tell them to look at bug #130796).
