LF Forms Server Activation Failed

asked on April 13, 2017 Show version history

We have the Rio license, and when I tried to activated another LF Forms server located in the DMZ using our activation key, I keep on getting the Activation Failed with "Maximum number of activations has been reached for this key" message. My understanding is that with Rio license, we can have unlimited number of LF Forms Server installed and activated. Currently, we only have two instances of LF Forms Server installed and the one in DMZ would be the third one.

I also tried generating the hardware fingerprint and using the Activation Tool on another machine to generate a license file. Got the same error message.

Has anyone encountered this before? What does it mean? Where should I start looking?

Hi Angela,

It actually sounds like you are trying to use the same Rio master license activation key to license Forms. That is not how Rio licensing works; the activation key has a single use to create a licensing site in Laserfiche Directory Server (LFDS). From LFDS you can then issue license files to individual applications; alternatively during install you can point to an LFDS licensing site to automatically register the application.

For more information, you can consider our Rio Deployment Guide or reach out to your reseller for assistance.

Cheers

Hi James,

I have also tried issuing license files for the Form Server, but when I get to the configuration step, there's an error message that it cannot contact the License Manager. We have all the appropriate ports open according to the Hosting Laserfiche Forms 10 in A Perimeter Network (DMZ) whitepaper.

I have open a case with our VAR. Hopefully they will be able to help.

Thanks,

Angela

Forms Server in general is unlimited, but Forms Portal is instance licensed. Are you trying to allocate this as a Forms Portal instance and, if so, do you already have other Forms Portal instances allocated on this system?
