License Manager and LFDS versions are not restricted by the master license version. That is, you can have your master license and products on the latest version, but use a old version of license manager.

The only concern with using a new license with License Manager is that some new features are not available through License Manager. Similarly, if you are not on the latest version of LFDS, some features for other products, such as Single Sign On, may not be available.

I think the problem was that we were trying to create a license file for Form 10.2 and it would only create one for Forms 10.1. Trying to get an example of the error we were getting from the Customer.

I was reading that you must update your master license to 10.2 in order to create the licenses for that product.

The maximum version of an application that you can license depends on when the Rio master license was last renewed (in License Manager or LFDS).

For example, Forms 10.2 wasn't released until January 2017. However, if the last time the organization renewed the Rio master license was sometime in 2016 (or before the release of the new version), then the maximum version of Forms you could license would have been 10.1.

If you renew the master license again when the new version is released, then your master license should get updated to reflect the new maximum version of the application that it can license.

Ok, we did get the most recent update but I think it still did not include 10.2 as an option. I need to go back and verify this was exactly the case.

If the master license has been renewed since the release of Forms 10.2 and has been applied properly to the Rio system, but you're still seeing that the maximum version is saying 10.1, then make sure that the LSAP for that organization is up to date as that also plays a factor in what the maximum version that can be licensed is.

If everything seems to be in order, but there's still an issue, then you can also verify first that the new license file is valid. Use the Activation Tool to manually activate and save a copy of the master license. Then view it in an XML reader to see the maximum version information for the products in there. If the master license file itself is still showing that the maximum version is 10.1, but they should be eligible for 10.2, then please open a case with Laserfiche Support.
