Question

Question

Can you default columns for all users in the thick client?

asked on March 14, 2017

Is there a way to default the column views for all users using the laserfiche thick client? The client doesn't want to have to log into each client and right click, check mark the fields they want showing for each client and folder.

A user's columns are saved in the [XmlColumnDisplay]Data attribute. Configure the columns how you like them on your user, then copy that attribute to the Everyone group. Check out this post for more information. You also need to set the [Settings]UniqueFolderColumns attribute to Yes/No depending on whether you want your users to have different column layouts remembered each folder. Note that the values you set on the Everyone group are just the default, users can customize their columns to override them.

Thank you Robert. I got the first part working, but I don't see the [Settings]UniqueFolderColumns attribute on any user. I tried adding it in but all columns for folders are still keeping the same.

So you set [Settings]UniqueFolderColumns to Yes on the Everyone group and it still isn't remembering individual folder columns? What does the radio button say in Options->Browser->General:

Got it, weird. Just didn't refresh. I signed back in now and it is working. Thanks a lot.
