Question

Why are the search context hits not shown?

asked on February 15, 2017

When doing a word search, usually the search results display under Context Hits.  I can click on any of the hits and the searched criteria displays and is highlighted.

However, sometimes I get a message of how many hits there are and a message of "Hits not shown" and I can't view the hits.  Even when I open one of the documents in the search results list, it still will not take me to or highlight the searched criteria.  Why not?

I've attached screen prints of an example of when hits are displayed and when they are not.

Try repairing your client by running the installation again and choosing "Repair". If that doesn't fix the problem, please open a support case.

Hits are not shown if they come from the electronic file portion of the document, e.g. the PDF itself. If you generate text for the pdf, then you should get hits shown.

I tried to Generate Searchable Text and received the following error:

Error generating pages for 'test pdf': Could not create required control. [6720] [6720]

Also, when I imported the pdf files into Laserfiche, I checked the  box to "Generate Searchable Text".
