Question

Client 9.1.1 compatibility with Laserfiche server 10.2

asked on February 7, 2017

Hello,

We are planning on upgrading our Laserfiche 8.3.2 server to 10.2.  We have a sister organization (that we have no control over) that also has a Laserfiche server running 9.1.1 that a lot of our users connect to.  They have no immediate plans to upgrade at this time.

After the 10.2 upgrade we are planning on keeping our client version at 9.1.1 so our users can still connect to our sister organization's Laserfiche repo.

I know it would be ideal to have our clients at the same version as our server but we are wondering if this would be ok long term? Would this be supported if we run into any issues?

The alternative would be to just upgrade to Laserfiche 9.1.1 server but we'd rather go to the most up to date version.  Anyone have any thoughts or experience to add?

Thanks

This is supported, the Laserfiche server maintains backward compatibility with older clients.

One drawback I can think of: if you use the new multi-value field group feature, the 9.1.1 client will display those values as standard multi-value fields instead of grouping them.
