Question

Fingerprint change on server where Directory Server is installed

asked on January 24, 2017

Hi,

I am wondering if the Fingerprint is changing on the server where the Laserfiche Directory Server is on...

Will there be a message on screen showing up this when we open up LFDS WebSite?

Will there be a notification taking place?

If the Hardware Fingerprint changes enough to invalidate the master license, there will be a small red banner shown on every page stating that the master license is invalid, with a link to the renewal page.

Renewing the master license from this page should resolve the issue.

Hi Brianna,

I get this error but i am unable to renew the licence as it is advising me the below:

When i try to deactivate, I get the following:

How can I deactivate the licence as all services are currently down. There is nothing licensed at the moment and i cannot deactivate even using the CMD option.

Thank you

Ziad

Tech Support can provide the fingerprint that was used when the license was previously activated.

Ok, thanks, then means the issue is probably not with the Fingerprint.  Happy to know this notification was implemented.

To clarify: this message should be appearing any time your database is invalidated for any reason.

If the banner is not showing up but you're getting a message about something being invalid (e.g., when downloading an application), it would be helpful to know the details.

Thanks for this added info.  The issue I had was as follow:

The Directory Server service is installed on the same server as LFS.  At some point in time, the LFS service stopped and in the event log it said the license file was invalidated.  To me, this may mean the server fingerpring may have changed so I was looking to find that info in LFDS but nothing.  I also looked at may logs and didn't found anything that would have caused this.  I then restarted the LFS service, it started correctly and still working since then.  This is a weird one.  LFS is 10.1.1.320

ahh, I see, you were worried about the license of one of the products. I thought you were referring to the license in LFDS itself. There is no information in the LFDS web admin regarding individual product licenses HWFP errors.

I know LFDS doesn't report for sub products but since both are installed on the same server, then if it would have been a Fingerprint change, then LFDS would have reported this fingerprint issue, that's what I was looking for.
