Question

Licence matrix for Forms submitters and approvers

asked on January 4, 2017 Show version history

Hi I am trying to help a client define how many of each licence type they need for a new project that will be almost exclusively Forms based. Is there a matrix for features and abilities in forms and the repository?

They have a mix of Laserfiche and non-Laserfiche named users at the submitter and different approval levels.

Chris,

Yes, having a Participant licnese allows tasks to be assigned to them. They can basically do everything with the exception of managing processes and being an administrator for Forms. I don't believe they can see reports either, but I don't recall for certain.

Only full named users for the repository can use all features of Forms; participant in Forms only can only submit form and perform task.

What kind of tasks? What are the limitations on FAPs other than they cannot access the repository?

Can they:

1. Be an approver

2. Will there LF user name be included in reporting

3. Receive email from the system based on user name, similar to Full Users

I was hoping for a more concrete answer on how to choose between the licence types

Thanks Blake. It would be nice if there was a matrix (hint, hint Laserfiche) to help clients decide between Full, FAP and Portal.

Also would FAP users be able to get to Forms using the mobile App?

If they are able to use the App are there any limitations in the mobile app?

They are allowed to user the app with the same restrictions as I mentioned above. The app also allows access to the Laserfiche repository, so they would not be able to connect to one since they do not have a named license.

Not quite a matrix, but check out this page in the help file.

Hi Miruna,

I checked out the page and it gives some detail for the forms based titles and categories for permissions, however it doesn't provide any detail on the licencing side.

For example you could modify a user with a Full user licence to have the same limitations as participants. Whereas FAP licences have inherent limitations that are important for clients to understand at the time of purchase.

Blake's answer was great but I'd be more comfortable if I could provide the client some details that do not seem to exist on the pros and cons of this licence type.
