Question

Slow search performance in Laserfiche only, not SQL.

asked on December 22, 2016

2 parts,

Is there a way to remove document text that has been OCR'd? we have run OCR on pages in the past and now we want to remove the OCR data.

My customer is haveing an issue searching on template fields with the use of *. eg: doug*

If they do a search on fields just in SQL the results come back in seconds. I want to maximize search performance. is there a whitepaper or some type of documentation that would guide me through making performance-based changes?

Thanks!

Hi Brian,

I don't have an answer to the first part of the question at this moment, but here is the white paper for improving Laserfiche search performance. For your information, defragmentation is done automatically at times of low usage for LFS 9.1 and higher, so you might want to skip that section if this applies to your case. While there are many options, here are a few tips to enhance your search performance:

- Reduce fuzziness; keep it below 25%

- Limit text searches; reducing "maximum results" helps return only the most relevant results

- Configure column display: some columns like path, security, linked, and tags are considered resource-intensive and can take up a lot of time for calculation so hide them if they aren't necessary
