Error 1053: The Service did not respond o the start request

asked on December 1, 2016

I am doing a new installation of Laserfiche Avante 10.1 Update 2 on a Windows Server 2012 R2. The software installed without any problems, but at the end of the installer it could not start the Laserfiche and LFFTS service. The Audit Trail service starts correctly. All 3 services are using the same username and password. When trying to start the Laserfiche Server and LFFTS services it gives the error "Windows could not start the Laserfiche Server service on Local Computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion". The error happens immediately. Does anyone have any ideas how to correct the issue?

I tried the fix discussed here with no luck: http://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/94503/Services-doesnt-run.

As a general rule of thumb, first make sure the computer where the Laserfiche Server will be installed is first fully up to date with Windows updates. Reboot as necessary.

Then for Windows Server 2012 R2 you'll need to install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355. Reboot as necessary again.

Lastly, install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 and reboot if needed.

In the support case that was opened, Blake confirmed that LFS was able to start after that.

In this case, according to Windows Updates the server was already up to date including all optional updates. When trying to install some of the updates it would give the message that the update did not pertain to the server and would not install it. After installing KB2919355 we were able to install the other updates as necessary.

Right. I was clarifying your statement about how you needed https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2975061 to be installed first before you could install https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355 and the former update is available in Windows Update.

So it looks like in order to install 2919355 from this post, it need to have 2975061 installed first. After that, the services started correctly.
