The number of named user assignments exceeds the licensed limit. Named user sessions will not be permitted until the number of assigned named users is at or below the limit

Error when logging into RIO only with LF Repository User.  Windows users are ok.

“The number of named user assignments exceeds the licensed limit.  Named user sessions will not be permitted until the number of assigned named users is at or below the limit”

Licensed for 31 users. (29 Windows) (2 Repository)

- LF server (10.1.1.254) LF Directory Server (10.0.0.222)

Application event log displays error shortly after LF Service is restarted daily at 6:00 a.m.

Setting the user account’s licenses to False and then back to Full gets them working again.

Why does only the Repository user have a problem logging in?

Are those 2 extra users repository users (created in the repository through LF Admin) or Laserfiche users in LFDS?

Then it sounds like the license in the server's install directory has no repository users allocated or it has less users than it should.

I'm just guessing because there's not enough information, but what most likely happens is:

  • the Windows account you're testing with has Manage Trustees and gets in on the 2 administrative connections
  • the LFServer's registration in LFDS/License Manager has been updated with the correct number of users, but an updated license has not been applied. When the Laserfiche Server starts, it loads its local license with the wrong number of users, then contacts LFDS and gets the updated one and loads it into memory and uses it from then on.

You'll probably want to open a case with Tech Support to track down all the error messages and verify these assumptions.
