Question

File name extension issue

asked on October 5, 2016

Hi,

When 2 files with same name but different extensions are uploaded and then routed to a folder, the second files's name gets a suffix (2) at the end. Ex: Procurement.DOCX is routed to a destination sub-folder using the workflow but when Procurement.PDF is routed, it becomes Procurement (2).

I found this link which explains how to fix it on one workstation.

https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/49472/Retaining-file-extension-in-document-name

I am looking for an attribute to export and import this for all users from admin console. Please can you tell me the attribute which which holds file name extension settings.

Also, thats what I think needs to be done. If there is a different way to do this, please let me know.

And, is there an option to fix this in workflow instead?

Thanks,

Adarsh

Hi Adarsh,

The attribute is

[Options]RetainFileExtensions

and the data value is

Yes

You can set this attribute on the Everyone trustee and it will apply to all users that don't have this attribute set at the user level. For users that do already have this attribute set, you'd have to update the value.
