Question

Retaining file extension in document name

asked on January 29, 2014

They have files in Windows folders with same name, but different extensions.  Like Sample.DOC, Sample.PDF, and Sample.TIF -  When they drag/drop into LF Client, they are renamed with (01) and (02) added to the 2nd and 3rd files.  Even though the extension is different.  Just to confirm - there is no way in LF to differentiate the file extension and save with the SAME NAME.  Am I correct on this??  Thanks-

There is a way to differentiate between file types while retaining the same name. All you have to do is check out the options menu; under Tools > Options > New Documents > General, there is an option to 'Retain file extensions in electronic document names'. Just check the box!

Hello Jason, I know it was long time ago for this topic, but about this option it is not working for me when importing documents from a .LST text file, it happen with Laserfiche Server 10.4 when using LF Client 9.2 and LF Client 10.4. I have checked the box as you indicated but importing always ignore file extension in document name.
Is there any other action I could make in order to fix this issue?
