Question

Laserfiche Pilot Public Portal

asked on October 4, 2016 Show version history

Dear Laserfiche,

knowing that Laserfiche Public Portal is licensed per Laserfiche Server. Customers need to purchase a weblink license for each Laserfiche server that need to be accessed by a weblink.

My question:

what about the Pilot Public Portal? Since only 25 concurrent users can access Laserfiche at the same time, is it possible to install two pilot weblink server , each one connected to a Laserfiche Server, while only 25 connections can be performed in total when accessing weblink (users accessing weblink 1 + users accessing weblink 2 = 25 connections). NB: Talking here about one license purchase of pilot public portal.

thanks,

The Public Portal license is a feature of the Laserfiche server, and it does not care if the connections come from the same WebLink instance or not.  So yes, the total connections from both WebLink servers would be limited to 25.

WebLink allows for unlimited installations.

sure Miruna

we know that weblink unlimited portal allows for multiple installation but all installation should point  to the same Laserfiche Server. is the same condition apply for the pilot weblink? I am asking since the pilot is already limited to 25 concurrent, so logically it should allow connections to multiple repository on different server as the number of concurrent connections should also be controlled by the directory server.

Thanks,

'Pilot" refers to the limited number of users. Anything else about a public portal still applies. The users get assigned as a block to a single Laserfiche Server and you can have unlimited installations of WebLink that point to this server. The total connections from all WebLink servers would be limited to 25.

Hello Miruna,

Since  the single processor and dual processor options are no longer available and now weblink is licensed per how many Laserfiche server the weblink can access, still pilot public portal can only access 1 Laserfiche Server?

thanks,

Dory

Hi Dory,

The concept hasn't changed. Public Portal license is still a feature of the Laserfiche server. Ex - If a client had purchased a single processor license, they can get one Laserfiche Server activated for public access. If they had purchased dual, they can get 2 Laserfiche Servers activated for public access, and similarly unlimited will allow unlimited Laserfiche Servers activated for public access. Any number of WebLink installation(s) connecting to a Laserfiche Server which has the public portal feature enabled (via public portal license) will be able to allow authentication for non-named users.

Thanks

Thanks Pragya.

I believe that the above concept for the Pilot License should be changed, as when a customer purchase pilot (25 concurrent connections), users should be able to connect to any Laserfiche server. At the end they are the same users who are accessing the documents, and it is not about granting different 25 users groups each to a LF server.

Hope Laserfiche can take this into consideration.

Thanks

Dory
