Hi,
I'm trying to get Quick Fields (v10) to process MSG files so I end up with text pages (not just indexed). I've tried Quick Fields so far (using text extraction process in pre-classification) and installed a MSG iFilter but don't get any text pages. Should this be possible? Using the client isn't practical due to the volume of files but would DCC be able to generate text pages for emails?
Thanks,
Nigel.

Generating text pages for MSG files

DCC only OCRs image pages, it does not extract text from electronic documents.
OK thans Miruna - what about Quick Fields - from my experience it generates text from Excel and Word documents but not MSG files.
Is that correct? If so is there another option aside from using the Laserfiche Client?
As you initially hoped, Quick Fields can generate text from MSG files if a MSG iFilter is installed and you've selected MSG files as an 'Additional File Type' in the settings for the Text Extraction process.
If you double checked these things and it still doesn't work, can you please provide more information about what's happening if you try this in Quick Fields? Did you get any error messages, or did it just silently fail to generate text pages? What MSG iFilter is installed? Is it possible you're running into a similar issue to the one described here?
Hi Tessa - I did have MSG selected under additional file types (selected from the drop down) and already tried installing two different iFilters (one from Microsoft - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17062 and another from the iFilterShop specifically for MSG files - http://www.ifiltershop.com/msgfilter.html). Those iFilters have worked for us in the past when using the Outlook and Laserfiche.
I suspect it is related to the 32/64bit issue you mention as that message does appear when I drag and drop an email from Outlook (x64) to LF. The message does still import OK and the text is generated though (and the error only appears once for the first email). I checked the link describing the same issue but don't see a solution in there. Is there anything we can do with Quick Fields to facilitate this?
I'm able to get this to work by installing a 32-bit version of Outlook.
To clarify: are you saying the text is generated correctly for you now, yet you still see the error message once for the first email scanned?
I'm not getting any text extracted via Quick Fields but drag and drop using the LF Client works OK after the initial warning/error message. My colleagues see the same thing too - both have 64bit versions of Office.
