Question

Question

One User - Two Licenses?

asked on September 12, 2016

Could someone confirm that we could give one user two licenses? Both the Named Retrieval Users and the Forms Authenticated Participants?

So, for example;

John (Manager)

  •  Named Retrieval Users License
  • Forms Authenticated Participants License

Dave (Basic employee)

  • Forms Authenticated Participants License

Is it possible for John to have two licenses assigned to his User account?

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a Forms Authenticated User is a "license type" that links to any kind of repository trustee. Basically, they are separate username-password based accounts that are stored in the Forms database only. So while you can give the user a read-only license AND set up a Forms account for them as well, I don't think they will be tied to the same account (and you may have to have two slightly different usernames for each object).

Thanks Scott,

Licenses are not my area of expertise but my VAR is currently out of office. I have most likely asked the question wrong so please forgive me.

I will get confirmation of this from my VAR.

The Forms Authenticated User license is a license type that only allows the user access to Laserfiche Forms. With that license they can log into Forms and have user tasks assigned to them.

If a user is already assigned a named user license to access repositories, that same license also gives them access to Laserfiche Forms and they do not need to be assigned an additional Forms Authenticated License.

Of course you have the option of assigning access rights for the two types of licenses in Forms to make sure the user only has access to what they need.

Thanks Blake!

That is an excellent breakdown, I have a much better understanding now. smiley

Hi Blake,

For the sake of clarity. When you say named user licenses, are you referring to full or retrieval users and can retrieval users participate and/ or initiate a forms process?

Full users. Retrieval users do not have the ability to submit forms.
