Forms library/asset add ons - Best Practices

posted on August 26, 2016

I found another discussion talking about Font Awesome being removed and a suggestion for the future to have a standard location for user add on libraries and assets.

What is the best location to store these libraries right now?

Is there any folder within the laserfiche forms installation that you generally try to avoid/changing? i.e. if we create a subfolder under js-src for our plugin, will that path change/break/get erased when new versions come out and we install over top of it?

We store all external scripts and CSS files under C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\lib\custom. Some of these are referenced in _Form_Layout.cshtml (if they are needed on all forms) while others are imported via $.getScript().

I agree with you though. Forms drastically needs a robust way of handling external assets. Too bad they haven't added any features that target power users like us over the past couple of releases...
