Question

LF 10 client read-only

asked on August 23, 2016

Hi.

I am trying to do disaster recovery testing and when I try to restore a snapshot of an iSCSI LUN (Synology NAS) which contains both my SQL Server and LF 10 files, I end up with opening an LF client that is read-only. When I open the LF Admin Console, the option of "respository named user" also does not appear.

It is confirmed that my recovered snapshot of the main site LUN is read-write. Also, I have set all SQL Server and LF10 files to have full control permissions to Everyone. In SQL Management Server Studio, I have attached the DB's and DB logs from the LUN. In the LF Admin Console, I have registered the LF repository as well.

Please advise how I can make the LF client read-write. (The idea is that I should be able to switchover this LUN with all the changes to the main site LUN when it is already up or accessible.)

Hope you can help.

Regards

Bea

It sounds like the server license got invalidated during the restore process.  This usually occurs with a change in the hardware fingerprint.  You should check your application evtx log or the Laserfiche Content Repository\Service\Admin evtx log (depends on which version you are on).

Should it be the license, you can simply relicense the server at that point.
