Question

Directory Server update 1 rollback?

asked on July 28, 2016

We are currently in the process of upgrading our Laserfiche Systems from 9.2 to 10.1. We completed the upgrade of our LFDS service, and encountered the issue noted in another thread (HERE).

We only noted this issue today (we completed the upgrade of LFDS on tuesday), and we have the remaining suite to upgrade, which is scheduled for later today.

We are evaluating whether to apply Update 1 to the LFDS service before-hand, but is it possible to roll-back the update if we encounter issues afterwards?

Is there a way, in the future, of being able to test this? We've been burned several times now by the LFDS service for various reasons, and the fact that we can't test this before-hand is causing a great deal of unease with the laserfiche product.

Hi Cameron,

If you are using the most up-to-date installer of LFDS 10 from the Support Site, it should already have had the update applied. The build with the update included is 10.0.0.222; if you are still having LFDS 10.0.0.196, check whether you are running into the issue from KB 1013790. If you are on version 10.0.0.222 and are encountering issues similar to the referenced thread, I would recommend reaching out to your reseller for support.

In the event you need to roll back any update for any Laserfiche product, you can do so from Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates. There you can find the desired update and uninstall individually.

Hi James,

We weren't aware of the Update 1 release until about a week ago, when I just happened to re-check the download. We had previously downloaded the LF10 package, so our LFDS is on the 10.0.0.196 version. I went through the list of conditions noted, and it does appear we are affected by the issue, which is resolved in KB1013748.

We are looking at adding this update to our upgrade process today, but if we had a way of testing the product before rolling stuff over to our production environment, we could have caught this almost a month ago.

You can consider talking with your Regional Manager about options for a temporary license to set up a test system before major upgrades to LFDS and such. For other products, what I know other organizations with Rio systems will sometimes do is license completely separate Laserfiche server environments for production, development, test, etc.

Thanks James, we will definitely do that in the future.

We do the second part you've recommended for our Laserfiche Server, Workflow, and Quickfields products. The difficult one was the Directory Server service.
