Question

Any issues upgrading QF 8 and Agent straight to version 10?

asked on July 13, 2016

We are a united client using Quick Fields and QF Agent 8.3. Has there been any problems upgrading straight to QF 10 from 8.3? Or, should I upgrade to 9 and then to 10 and have my sessions converted along the way?

Since we can't use the QF Server, will the normal MMC QF Agent Admin console still be installed?

Any other tips or things I should watch out for in this transition? We are using LF Server 9.1.1.

Thanks.

Hi Kenny,

In general, there should be no issues opening Quick Fields 8 sessions in Quick Fields 10. However, we have seen some people run into issues if their Quick Fields 8 or 9 sessions use process profile permissions. If this is the case for you, you can remove the process profile permissions from your session or wait for an upcoming update for Quick Fields 10 that will resolve this issue.

To answer your second question, Quick Fields Agent is not dependent on the Quick Fields Server. If you have the Quick Fields Agent add-on, and you select the Quick Fields Agent check box during installation, Quick Fields Agent and the Quick Fields Agent MMC Snap-in Administration Console will be installed. Keep in mind you can also install and use the Quick Fields Agent Web Administration Console to administer Quick Fields Agent.

Let us know if you have any other questions or issues.

You mention "if their Quick Fields 8 or 9 sessions use process profile permissions."

Is the error presented like the following?

Requested value "SchedulingOptions, ManagePersonalProfiles....Was not found?

Yep, that's it.

Until the update, the best solution is to open the session in Quick Fields 9 and go to Tools -> Options -> Current Session -> Permissions and make sure all the boxes under "Run process profiles" are unchecked.

After making those changes, the session should now open correctly in Quick Fields 10.

How can I install JUST the agent admin console on other computers to remotely administer the computer running agent? I don't see that option in the installation window.
