Question

device license, scanning, and weblink scenario

asked on July 12, 2016

I have a scenario here with a customer and two users that would like to use weblink but also like to be able to scan. it currently goes as this:

they currently have a workstation setup for scanning that uses a device license. There are two specific users that log into this workstation with their windows credentials and then login to laserfiche with windows authentication.

When they do this, read-only access is unchecked and they are able to scan fine and all is well. but, they would also like to be able to get into weblink.....with read-only unchecked they are not able to get in to weblink. checking the read-only checkbox allows them to get into weblink but then does not allow them to scan.

is there something being missed here or is this just a licensing issue?

the only way I can think to make this work would be to setup a generic scanning user for them to share and then leave their personal accounts as read-only so they are able to get into weblink as well?

Hi Nick,

Device licenses can't be used to access WebLink. When you designated the users as Read-Only, you made it so that they could draw from the available public portal connections, so that's probably why they were able to use WebLink at that point.

If these two users are each given a Named User license, they will be able to scan as well as log in to WebLink as you have described. Hope this helps!

Anita,

This is what I was leaning towards as well. Thanks for the confirmation!
