Laserfiche Snapshot - Intermittently Stuck in Windows 10 Print Queue

asked on June 30, 2016

Hello! We are having an intermittent Laserfiche Snapshot issue with several PCs since upgrading them to Windows 10. When we attempt to print a pdf OR word document to LF Snapshot the job will get stuck in the print queue as "Printing..." and the dialog box never comes up. This seems to be happening with many different documents at random. We can't seem to cancel the print job either when this occurs, or restart the spool service, the only way to get this print job out of the queue is to restart the machine.

I am convinced this is a localized issue, I have tried the following troubleshooting steps...

  • My PC does not have the issue with the same pdf, so I compared pc/snapshot settings to ensure they are exactly the same. Tried again and no luck (Windows 10, LF 9.2.1).
  • When I logged in to her machine with my user credentials I had the exact same issue and was able to reproduce it (so it isn't LF user specific).
  • I uninstalled and reinstalled ALL Laserfiche components on her machine twice, this did not resolve the issue
  • I went through every Snapshot post here on laserfiche answers and attempted troubleshooting steps suggested, none seemed to work.

If anyone has had any experience with this issue and was able to resolve it, I would appreciate the help! The closest I got was this post (http://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/69647/Snapshot-wont-consistently-work) but there doesn't appear to be a resolution.

I think I have found the fix for printing to Laserfiche Snapshot from Adobe.  When you are preparing to print the pdf click the “Advanced” button and then select “Print As Image”.  This appears to be a sticky setting so you should not have to specify every time.  But check for the first couple print jobs just to be sure.

Cody,

Browse to the directory on the workstation in question "c:\windows\temp" and clear out the files in this folder.

Hi Tommy! Thanks so much for the answer! I actually did already try this as well, and that didn't appear to resolve the issue either. I appreciate the quick response!
