Question

Question

Refreshing the number of Full repository licenses on an existing server.

asked on April 9, 2014

We have recently received an update to our Main license due to extra Name Users we acquired. I successfully updated the master License to reflect the extra users and also managed to allocate them to the relevant server in the License manger under Registered Applications\Laserfiche Server\ServerName .

What I would like to know is if there is a different way of having these extra users being reflected on the Server itself without having to stop and start the Laserfiche Server Service?

For adding additional repository named users allocated to a specific Laserfiche Server, you will need to generate a new license file, replace the old one with the new one, and restart the Laserfiche Server service.

If this is for directory named users, then the built in notification system should take care of this if you have it configured. If notifications aren't being used, then you can have the Laserfiche Server manually request the updated list of directory named users by following the steps in KB 1012824.

Hi Alexander, thank you for the feedback. This is for named user that the LF server can utilize. I'm use to doing it as you described but was hoping that they might have been a change where a server restart was not required, as that can only happen outside of normal operating hours.

Also what I have found is that it does not seem to be required to first generate the file and then replace it on the server. If you just restart the LF server after applying the added users on the License Manager, it then reflects that new users are available.

thanks any way.

I think the reload license command in the attached KB will cover all license updates, including additionally allocated repository named users. Also, I think notifications will handle this as well, you just might have to wait for it to happen when it feels like it in that case.

Thanks. I keep it handy for the next time we update the master license.
