Question

Does Laserfiche support Office 365 functionality?

asked on January 31, 2014

I have a new customer who is an Office 365 shop.  I do not see that Office 365 is supported according to the following kb article:

https://support.laserfiche.com/KB/1013137

Is that true that Office 365 is not supported by Laserfiche?  If not, will it be supported in the future?

Just as an update to this post, Laserfiche has published a new page to the company website highlighting the integration with Office 365 and other Microsoft applications.

Check it out here, or refer to our previous announcement about the Office 365 integration here

@Brandon Buccowich,

Does Laserfiche Records Management integrate with the records management capabilities already in O365 to manage records or is it better to let O365 manage the records in Sharepoint and its other RM tools while using Laserfiche to manage records not in O365?

The Office Integration component of Laserfiche is installed as a plugin directly into the associated Office application (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Therefore, you will need the desktop version of MS Office. Note that there does exist plans for Office 365 that incorporate subscriptions with the desktop version of MS Office.

This office must move forward with Microsoft 365.  Any idea when a true solution will happen for Office365 integration with on-premise Laserfiche system?   I can't allow LF to slow down the progress of this organization due to having no timeline for true integration.  This could force me to move toward another document management system.

Hi Eric,

We do not currently have a timeline on true integration with Office365. This integration is in the pipeline, and the development team is working had to add the functionality in this year. When we have official release information, this will be made available to Solution Providers through the SP channel.

We're rolling out O365 & Laserfiche so I was just testing between the two systems, hoping for some sort of integration. And I had to do a double take but tis true!

@████████ Hi Eric. To follow-up to your earlier question, we do have an O365 integration available for on-premises users today just recently announced via Spark; this feature will be formally announced in the 10.4.2 release. For Cloud users, this feature will be available in our 2019.4 release (October).

Thanks Alex!

And I'm assuming that since there are plans for the Office 365 subscription, then there's not currently a date for that to be implemented?  I ask because I know the customer will. smiley

Nathan,

What I mean is that Office 365 contains subscription plans where users can use the desktop versions of MS Office so they would need one of those plans to work with Laserfiche's Office Plugin.

Any update available? We have several prospects interested in Laserfiche but one of the key requirements is Office 365. Specifically OneDrive and SharePoint online.

Hi Sader,

The recently released Web Access 10 allows users to browse their OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, and Google Drive, and import documents directly from those file systems. https://www.laserfiche.com/support/webhelp/Laserfiche/10/en-US/administration/#../Subsystems/WAConfiguration/Content/import-services.htm has more information about it.

Any update on this, specifically when Office 365 web-clients can be used seamlessly with Office 365?

When will Office 365 be supported?  We are seeing more requests where this integration is mandatory.

Unlike with the desktop applications, integrations with Office 365 need to be negotiated with and approved by Microsoft.  We are working through this process now, but we don't have any idea how long it will take or even if it will ultimately be successful.

Also, this is initially only for Laserfiche Cloud.  Due to the way Microsoft designed the integration, the Office servers need to be able to pull the documents from the Laserfiche repository.  This could be a real challenge to configure and troubleshoot in an on-premises solution.  If we can successfully integrate with the Cloud we'll look at what our options are for a simple on-premises integration.

@████████

Is there a video or screen shots of what this OneDrive for Business integration does? The link you provided just gives the setup instructions.

Thanks.

Hi Kenny,

There's a video specifically on it at https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/english/docs/Default.htm#Importing_Files.htm. That's the Laserfiche Cloud documentation, but the user front-end side is the same, only the configuration is different.

Is Laserfiche Cloud needed for the Laserfiche button on the web-version of Outlook?
