Question

When PDF is moved into LF Client, Image Pane depicts characters as condensed and unreadable

asked on June 15, 2016

Hello,

I have a user who when moving a PDF into LF client, in the Image pane, it shows the letter characters as condensed and unreadable. I have tested logged in as a different user and on a different machine. I have provided a screen shot below of the comparison between the Electronic File and the Image File. Also, even though there are multiple pages of the document, the Image Pane only shows one image.

Any help or answer here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

This is a known issue in 10.1 that should be fixed in the upcoming 10.1 hotfix. A workaround is to use the 10.0 client.

Hello,

I note that you have mentioned the issue is known in version 10.1. The user is currently on version 9.2.1.562. Are there any known issues with this happening in that version?

Thank You

There are also similar known issues with the 9.2 client. Upgrading to the 10.0 client should resolve the issue (the LF server needs to be updated to 10 first). The user will need to generate pages again on the problem pdfs.

Hello Robert,

In this case the user will more than likely not  have the option of upgrading to LF Server/Client 10.0, is there any other potential ways to work around this?

Thank You

I dug deeper and found a sample PDF that seems to exhibit the exact same behavior in the 9.2 client. This particular bug is specific to 9.2, so they can also try using the 9.1 client, which doesn't require updating the LF server.

Hi Robert,

I will reach out to the user and let them know that using the 9.1 version of the client could resolve the issue. I will let you know the results.

Thanks!
