Laserfiche Repository - Custom Reports

asked on June 14, 2016 Show version history

I would like to create custom reports based on forms that are currently in the Laserfiche repository. Is there any Laserfiche addon to do this? Or do i use something like SQl Reports to create the reports i would like?

I am not talking about audit reports. I am talking about creating a report based on metadata that is on the template associated with the form or with fields located within the form itself. Thanks.

You don't need third party, you need you!

You can use Search and Find Activities to search metadata and use Query data to query and return tokens from SQL External databases . You design your reports in a word template with fields. Then you can use workflow activity Merge Word Docs to drive this template report containing metadata fields and calculated tokens.

You drive this report from Forms where the use can select Report Criteria

Just a few ideas

Its a simple process but a number of steps.

In a workflow

1.Collect your metadata and any other data to report on using Search Activity

2. With the Search Results use Query Data activity to populate tables in a External Database or in LF Cloud Tables

3. Design a Report in Word Documents with Header fields(Static fields for the report) and Detail Line Fields(Rows of data) - Hence a two database tables Header and Detail save it into Stored documents on LF server.

4. Use a 2 Data Query activities to search each table

5. Use a Merged Document activity to produce the report.

Select Report from Stored Documents and select each Data Query Results for Simple and then Details

Output to PDF and renaming

6. Do something with the pdf!

You would need to use a 3rd party tool to accomplish this. You could use SSRS, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
