Question

LF Forms 10.1 with LFDS auto single sign on

asked on June 13, 2016

How do we enable auto sign on with Forms 10.1 and LFDS 10.1.

Removing the need to click 'Log in with Windows Authentication' is what we are looking for.

As of Directory Server 10.2 (July 2017), you can set users to automatically authenticate using Windows Authentication; see the release notes. Sorry for the long delay in updating the thread!

The option is on the Web STS configuration page:

Currently, to initiate Windows authentication using SSO, users must always click that link. I can take the request back to the development team.

Hi Chris,

That's the Laserfiche Directory Server signin page. If you have Forms (or other Laserfiche web applications) set up to authenticate through the directory server, it will bring up that signin page instead.

Hi Martin,

As Brianna said, users must always click that link. However, you can make session time longer.

Go to http://localhost/LFDSSTS/configuration on your Laserfiche Directory Server machine. You will find SSO session lifetime field. The default value is 1440 minutes (1 day). You can change it to 10080 minutes, which is 1 week.

Any update on the SSO for Forms using windows authentication?

any work around to make it work?

I've added the request to set "autologin" (remove the need to click the link) to our backlog. We don't yet have an estimated release date for this additional functionality.

I'm a little confused by all this. So you can sign into Forms using windows authentication or not?

Hello Chris,

In short, here is a brief summary of how it works. hopefully this addresses your question.

Basically when you configure your Forms server to authenticate using your Laserfiche Directory Server(LFDS), rather than repository authentication, Forms will communicate with LFDS to authenticate your users.

What happens here is that when a user attempts to log into the Forms Server(that has LFDS auth. configured), Forms will basically request the user to authenticate by logging in via LFDS. So in LFDS, it allows you to authenticate either via the Username/Password, or Windows Authentication. So if you select Windows Authentication, LFDS will authenticate said user with Windows Authentication then pass it along into Forms. So in short, that is how it works to allow you to sign into Forms using windows authentication, through that method.

Note this option isn't present for repository authentication, it only applies to those Forms Servers using LFDS authentication.

Awesome. Thanks Andrew, is there any documentation on how to set this up? It's not immediately obvious looking at Forms and LFDS options.

Cheers!

No problem. Take a look here and browse down into the "Laserfiche Directory Service Users". It should be pretty straight forward, but if you got questions, just feel free to ask. For those unfamiliar with LFDS, this is only available for users with RIO licenses. so if customers/users are on Avante licenses, they can't use this feature, as they would not have the LFDS product.
