Question

text field becomes drop down when selecting multiple entries in webaccess

asked on June 10, 2016

I have a case where a simple text field is turned into a drop down field when multiple entries are selected.

The Templates are the same, there are no values in the field for any of the documents yet.

Next, if I move the mouse over the field, it actually tries to populate the field and then removes the field input control entirely.

I tried moving the position of the field in the template around, but that didn't seem to have any effect. Other fields are just fine.

Below is a set of screen shots that show what's going on.

The last screenshot is of the field definition, as you can see, there's nothing special about it.

Hi Boris,

If you temporary switch that field to list, does it already have a list affiliated with it? I'm wondering if there are artifacts making some processes think that's a list field even though it isn't. It shouldn't be doing this regardless, of course.

Also, which specific version of Web Access are you seeing this one?

It's the most recent version of WebAccess, 10.1.

If I try to set it to a list field and just try to apply as is, it automatically reverts to a text field.

I checked if there was anything in the list, but it's empty.

It seems it's related to having dynamic fields in the template. I created a new template with just that one field, and didn't have a problem. As soon as I added a dynamic field it started to misbehave. Tried changing the order of the two fields, but that didn't make a difference. I removed the dynamic field definition for the second field and left it as just another standard field and everything worked correctly again.

Just as a side note, the desktop client behaves as would be expected.
