Question

Question

next task if the same person is assigned to it

asked on June 9, 2016

Hi,

I facing some challenge in form approval.

Scenarios: Claim Approval

User 1 --> User 2 --> User 3 --> Manager

User 1 will send a claim request  which will go thru 2 user before it reached the final approver.

The normal flow is working perfectly. All user will be able to make a claim. So logically, if user 1 make a claim, it should route to user 2 directly for approval. But i'm facing problem, as it still route to user 1 for approval.

The screenshot below, is the setting i did for user task for user 1

Really appreciate if anyone can assist me regarding to this.

Hi Jason. For the second approval that is meant to go to user 2, make sure that the user assigned is not User 1:

If you are using Teams, it will need to be configured correctly using filters and roles so that the task is not also being assigned to User 1 (if it is part of that team). More information about Teams in Forms can be found here.

Hi Cathy,

thank you for your reply. I think i should rephrase my question.

Normal User - Submitter for Claim

User 1 - 1st Level Approval

User 2 - 2nd Level Approval

User 3 - 3rd Level Approval

Manager - Last Level Approval

If Normal User Submit a Claim, it will flow in the following manner

 Normal User --> User 1 --> User 2 --> User 3 --> Manager ( I don't faced any issue here)

The following scenario is the one i facing challenges

If User 2 Submit a Claim, this is what I want to achieve

User 2 --> User 3 --> Manager ( User 2 does not require to get approval from User 1 and itself. The submission should flow to User 3 directly)

Hi Jason, you can add a exclusive gateway after step of first submission to only route to user 1 when the first submission is not submitted by user 2.

The path condition can be something like "/dataset/_initiator!="user2""
