Question

generate pages from webaccess

asked on June 9, 2016 Show version history

Hi,

Can i generate pages for a document that's already in the repository from Web Access. This is important as i don't want to go to client to do that. unfortunately i can't find it anywhere in web access which is not that great.

Thanks in advance.

You can generate pages from PDFs through Web Access. You cannot generate pages directly from Web Access for other electronic document types directly, but you can always print them to Snapshot manually.

thanks justin but i was specifically looking to generate pages for a word doc that's already there. printing it with snapshot and then re importing it would not be ideal. so i will stick to LF Client for now.

Hi Justin,

Is there a plan to add this functionality to future Web Client versions?

Being able to print snapshot/generate pages directly into the WebClient is very important for us. I would also like to see this functionality added.

Hi Tangi (and others) -

We have this on our list as one of the few remaining items that isn't satisfactory addressed in the web client. We've already been making internal infrastructure changes to make it easier for the web client to call into applications like this.

To ensure we're hitting your needs here, can you discuss a bit more about what specifically you need with page generation? These days, other advancements within Laserfiche mean that most file types can be natively searched without page generation, and the recent Office online integrations also enhance working directly with Office documents in their native format. I know there are still some items that require generating pages, so I want to ensure I know what items you need it for.

Thanks!
