Question

Switching scan source doesn't hold parameters

asked on June 9, 2016 Show version history

I have a customer that wants to be able to switch between an attached scanner and using Universal Capture.  The scanner is using WIA to scan.  I set up the scanner and also set up universal capture with the path and delete files option.  Then I set up the scanner - it defaults to color so I changed it to b/w.  When I tested the scanner and closed scanning and went back in Universal Capture had lost the path and delete settings.  I made sure to scan and store a document when I first did the settings thinking this would "lock-in" the settings.  I made sure the end-user had full control of the PIXTRAN directory.  Is there anything I missed or is this normal?

Thanks,

Sandy

Open Laserfiche by right-clicking and selecting 'Run as administrator'. Setup your scan options for the sources and then log out of LF. Log back in as normal and make sure the settings saved. This is what worked for our situation. Hope it helps!

Hi Sandy,

Are the users making this change local administrators? We are having a very similiar issue with setting the options on the Universal Capture screen. If these changes are done as a local admin, a registry key is created in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Laserfiche\Universal Capture\Options\DeleteImage:

If done by a regular user, this key isn't created, and the value doesn't "lock-in" as you mentioned since a non-admin user doesn't have Permissions on this registry key.

We are still trying to combat the issue but for now, we can "lock-in" their settings from the user attributes in the Laserfiche Administrator Console. It's a large pain, and doesn't truly resolve the issue.

Thank-you - I'll give local administrator a try.
