Question

Can a user do multiple searches at one time?

asked on June 7, 2016 Show version history

Hi Team,

Was wondering if I can get this verified, a client would like to be able to search multiple documents (folders) at a time.

Details: they have a requirement for multiple searches going at the same time, as they often have 5+ searches going at one time (as you can see I have mentioned it a few times now). Their current solution is able to open a new window (tab) for each search. Is this something LF Client is able to do? Or Web Access? Having a quick look I was unable to see anything but would like this verified or see if anyone has seen this functionality before?

Thank you in advance,

Regards

You can open multiple windows in the Client and browser tabs in Web Access so, yes, you can run multiple searches or view multiple documents at the same time.

Note that one single window of the client only does one search, but you can simply open another window.

Can you explain what you mean by "going at the same time"? I'm confused because it sounds like they're already doing that by running different searches in different windows/tabs.

Do they want to instead run documents that satisfy any one of several criteria within the same search? For example, return all documents tagged "Urgent", and also return all documents that were created within the past week?

Hi Brianna,

Thank you for your response,

What they would like to achieve is for multiple searches simultaneously. The client has advised us that they are usually opening multiple documents at a time, i.e while they are searching for a document in Folder A, they want to start searching for another document that is in Folder B, and so on.. They would like to know if Client enables for tabbed searches, so they can switch between the tabs and open the files they require?

Hope that explains it a bit more, let me know if further details is required?
